Urban:

6.4 billion people populate our world today with 40% of them living in the Urban Anthrome. That's roughly 2.6 billion people! This is a huge number. Baltimore city alone has about 637,000 people, but Maryland has over 5 1/2 million. (http://quickfacts.census.gov/qfd/states/24/24510.html). This Urban Anthrome is not limited to the cities however. It also includes the dense settlements that surround cities and make up large towns.

Take a look at the map on the left below. This is an Anthropogenic map of the Eastern half of the United States. The red areas show us where the Urban Anthromes are located. Do you know what cities are located in these red areas of the map?

According to the classic biome view, this area should be deciduous forest, but what do we actually have here?
